Aledo ISD has elected not to sell peanuts or peanut-based products in our school cafeterias. However, it is possible that some products sold in school cafeterias may be manufactured in facilities that produce peanut products. Students are free to bring peanut products from home for their own consumption.

CELEBRATE NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK!!!
October 13-17

Everyone can “Score Big with a Healthy Texas Lunch”
during National School Lunch Week! Oct 13-17!
Texas farmers and ranchers support everything we need for a healthy lunch. North Texas scores big by producing summer vegetables and grains such as corn and wheat. South Texas scores big by growing fruits and vegetables that peak during mild winters, such as oranges and leafy greens. The whole state gets big points for producing pork, poultry and beef year round. Check out this month’s menus for “Texas” recipes and products. (see the “”)

??Did You Know??
October 15th is a busy day…
It is National School Lunch Week and we are going to “Score Big with a Healthy Lunch.” Today is a busy day for Texas vegetable growers who farm the ten-fifteen onion. That is the official state vegetable for Texas and the Texas A&M scientist who invented the onion called it ten-fifteen because the best day to plant the onion is today, October 15th! So remember to eat lots of healthy Texas vegetables at lunch today.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Important Changes to MyNutriKids
The Aledo ISD’s Child Nutrition Department is excited to announce some enhancements to our online school meal payment service. We have transitioned your existing MyNutrikids.com account to a new service called mySchoolBucks.

This website provides a number of key features that you will find beneficial including:
  • Scheduled recurring payments
  • A convenience fee of $1.95 is charged per transaction (multiple students can be included in one transaction)
  • Automatic deposits when your child’s account balance runs low
  • Extended purchase history for the past 90 days
  • Low balance email notifications (this feature will not transfer so you will need to set up the low balance email notifications in mySchoolBucks)
If you already have a MyNutrikids.com account, you will NOT need to create a new account with mySchoolBucks. Your existing login username and password will remain the same. Children that are associated with your account will also carry over to the new service. Now that the transition is complete you will be automatically redirected to mySchoolBucks where you can begin using the new service. Parents with an existing MyNutrikids.com account will receive an introductory email from mySchoolBucks, which will provide instructions on how to use this new service.
For more information about mySchoolBucks please visit: http://www.learnmyschoolbucks.com/Parent
If you have any questions please call Child Nutrition Office at 817-441-5142.
Elementary or Intermediate students whose cafeteria account reaches the charge limit of -$25.00 will be provided with a Snack Meal. Students with a negative cafeteria balance will not be allowed to purchase snacks or extras until their balance is brought current. Negative balances will be communicated to parents via our School Messenger Call System.

School meals meet USDA standards requiring age appropriate calorie and portion limits, larger and more varied servings of veggies and fruits and more whole grains. All students selecting a school meal must include a fruit or veggie serving on their tray at breakfast and lunch.
